Biodegradable soil blankets and Coir logs

Promote vegetation growth combined with your gabion structure, and help retain the important top soil with our bio-degradable soil blankets and Coir logs. This range of products is of utmost importance in protecting the earth against soil erosion.

Their purpose is to keep the soil moist and cool during the initial growing phase of the plants and to encourage vegetation growth before the soil is transported away. Both the woven and non-woven blankets are eco-friendly and degrade into the soil over time, providing nitrogen into the soil during the initial growth phase.

We offer rolls of biodegradable soil blankets for installation in areas where soil erosion is a pressing problem on a steep slope. These blankets can be made of hessian, jute and coconut fiber. Ranging from a life span of about 6 months to 3-3.5 years for the coconut fibre also referred to as coir. Coir logs are used alongside or across streams to encourage fine soil retention and erosion prevention. Coir fibre does not degrade below water flows.

These products are layed on and pegged into the soil on steep slopes and promote water and fine soil particle retention and the subsequent support of plant root growth.

Bio degradable blankets are supplied in rolls of different sizes, with masses ranging from 200-900g/m2.

The coir fiber blanket specifically has a longer life and is certainly a better product to use with slope erosion conditions.
