Domestic Installations take top spot at Gabion Baskets
Gabion Baskets’ Salt Rock project was started on 27th September 2023 where we were required to carry out the supply and installation of an architectural feature wall for a private residence. The team pulled out all the stops to keep the project on track with a few additions and modifications made by the client. Of course, the amazing views with dolphins watching from the background did prove a slight distraction to the workforce. The scope of work included 42 tons of grey rock and 4mm thick 50x50mm welded mesh to blend into an industrial feel with concrete finishes to suit the design of the house. The Gabion Baskets team worked tirelessly for three weeks, to date, on the project. 42 Tons of rock was used to fill the more than 35 cubes of gabion baskets. The gabions’ varied in length the basket sizes at 0.5mx0.5m. The challenge came at the middle section where five units of 3x1x0.300 had to be placed under the canter levered entertainment area, giving a completed finished-look to the appearance. However, in addition, to the aesthetic appeal, the critical purpose of the design was to assist with soil erosion by terracing the walls and levelling out the ground to create a flowerbed between the rows of gabion baskets. The greatest difficulty for our team on this site proved to be the carting of the rocks from where they were dumped to the building site and the steepness of the terrain. The second phase of this project is due to begin in the next week or so and we will be sure to update you on the progress. You can bet on Gabion Baskets getting the work done
