Palesa Coal Mine is a surface mine in the Thembisile Hani Local Municipality, Mpumalanga. Gabion Baskets was contracted to supply baskets to the site and provide installation training.

Gabion basket installations require a significant amount of manual labour. Here you can see our teams carrying out on-site training of preparing baskets ahead of filling.

The end result – almost complete. Geoblankets which are used to help control erosion are laid before the gabion baskets to complete a permeable, yet sustainable weir.

Flooding in KZN causes serious problems

Gabion offices in KZN were hit by the recent flooding that once again came down on the region who have hardly recovered from the last flash floods.
